Formed in 1988
HTELC is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
The ELCA was formed in 1988 and has over 10,300 member congregations, 65 synods, and a host of church-wide organizations. With a baptized membership of 4.2 million, the ELCA’s reach covers the entire U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

ELCA’s Southwest California Synod
Founded in 1988
We are congregation of the ELCA’s Southwest California Synod as part of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Conference. There are more than 120 churches in this synod which serves the following counties: Kern, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The three companion synods are: The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hong Kong (ELCHK), The South Central Synod of the Ethiopian Evangelical Lutheran Church Mekane Yesu (EELC), and, Sínodo Luterano Salvadoreño (Lutheran Salvadorian Synod).”

The New City Parish
Founded in 1992
Holy Trinity is a proud founding member of the New City Parish. The New City Parish is a coalition of 9 urban congregations of the ELCA who joined together to manifest the presence of Jesus Christ to communities impacted by the 1992 Los Angeles civil unrest.

Our LA Metro Conference, supported by others from across the Synod as well as California Lutheran University. We invest our time, talents, and treasures in the work of improving our community through clothing, food drives, and personal service, helping young people take advantage of higher education opportunities through scholarships.
